PARIS 24 Feb. (IPS)    Mr. Qasem Sho'leh Sa'di, a prominent lawyer and former Member of the Majles was arrested early Monday morning on his arrival in Tehran, one of his ons, Javad, told Iran Press Service.

"My father was arrested immediately after landing in Tehran, but was allowed only to inform my mother on his arrest", Javad said.

Mr. Sho'leh Sa'di left Paris Sunday evening, after a month-long stay in Paris, where he underwent medical check up, expecting more or less what might be awaiting for him on his return.

In an interview with Iran Press Service before his departure, he warned that "whatever happened to me Mr. Ali Khameneh'i, the leader of the Islamic Republic, would be solely responsible".

His arrest followed the release of Mr. Mohammad Mohsen Sazegara, another dissident, with whom he had formed recently the National Coalition of Iranians for Freedoms, aiming at bringing peaceful change in the present theocracy.

Mr. Sazegara had been arrested last Tuesday, but was freed Saturday night and hospitalised for heart problems.

Mr. Sho'leh Sa'di, who is also a university professor, is the author of a public letter to Ayatollah Khameneh'i, in which he strongly questioned his nomination as the leader of the regime by the Assembly of experts and also criticised his policies, both domestic and international, including his staunch opposition to dialogue and normalisation with the United States, despsite 74 per cent of the Iranians favouring such development.
