Paris, 5 Feb. (IPS) As Paris-Tehran diplomatic relations received a new blow last week over France’s objections to Iran over latest anti-Israeli outbursts by the Iranian fanatic President, the two side’s news agencies reported completely different versions of the incident.

“French ambassador Bernard Poletti agreed (with the Iranian point of view about Israeli “slaughtering” of the Palestinians), observed that on several occasions, France has condemned Israeli attitude concerning the Palestinians”, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported on Sunday about the meeting between the French diplomat and a General Director at the Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry who had summoned him to hear Iranian official protest about the French Foreign Affairs Ministry which, on Friday, had summoned the Iranian ambassador to Paris to hear France’s “indignation” about President Amadinejad’s recent “unacceptable” anti-Israeli remarks.
On Monday, the French news agency AFP quoted French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pascale Andreani saying Ambassador Poletti “took advantage of the summons to protest "unacceptable" comments Ahmadinejad made last week during a speech in the southern port of Bushehr implying that Israel would be destroyed”.
“Poletti reiterated the French position that "the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Israeli-Lebanese relations cannot serve as a pretext to question Israel's right to exist", Andreani added in an online briefing Monday.
“how come that France shuts its eyes on the massacre of innocent Palestinians by the “savage and inhuman Zionist regime” but can not tolerate Mr. Ahmadinejad’s remarks on the Zionist Entity’s massacre of Palestinians and on the question of Holocaust?”
But according to the IRNA, the Iranian General Director (had) asked Mr. Polettit “how come that France shuts its eyes on the massacre of innocent Palestinians by the “savage and inhuman Zionist regime” but can not tolerate Mr. Ahmadinejad’s remarks on the Zionist Entity’s massacre of Palestinians and on the question of Holocaust?”.
“She (the French Foreign Affairs spokeswoman) said the (French) ambassador also emphasized the "very negative impact of these comments on the international community's perception of Iran".
This was also what the French had told Mr. Ahani on Friday, when he was called at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The Iranian official also ridiculed France’s leading the crusade against Iranian nuclear activities, saying France’s attitude was a “political masquerade” at a time that the United Nations nuclear watchdog has expressed satisfaction at Iranian cooperation with the IAEA and even American intelligence organizations had concluded that Tehran has stopped all nuclear programmes for military use on 2003.
Regardless of the fact that France’s action to summon the Iranian ambassador to protest against Iran President’s diatribes concerning Israel is unprecedented by European standards, it remains to know which side is lying, the Iranians or the French about this diplomatic farce? ENDS FRANCE IRAN 5208
