Since 1979, the United States has maintained a trade restriction on the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). Since the revelation of IRI’s nuclear ambitions in 2002, at the initiation of the group of six, the United Nations Security Council imposed three rounds of economic sanctions on Iran. None of these measures convinced the regime to turn its back to its nuclear ambitions. By Jahanshah Rashidian.
